Cancer Prevention & Early Detection

A personalised review of cancer risk, established screening and emerging early-detection technologies.

Is this for you?

You may recognise some of this.

Strong family history of cancer

Previous cancer

Known genetic risk

Age-related cancer concerns

Lifestyle-related risk

Occupational exposures

Uncertainty about which screening you should be doing

Interest in a more comprehensive screening strategy

Interest in emerging cancer-detection technologies

Wanting to understand personal cancer risk

Restrained minimal diagnostic still life in cool ivory and stone tones

What we explore

Symptoms usually have more than one contributor.

We consider the areas that most often drive what you are experiencing, then narrow down to the ones your history and examination point towards.

  • 01Personal cancer risk
  • 02Family history
  • 03Age and sex-specific risk
  • 04Lifestyle factors
  • 05Previous screening
  • 06Existing guideline-based screening
  • 07Potential genetic assessment
  • 08Imaging where appropriate
  • 09Emerging early-detection technologies

How we investigate

Assessment before assumption.

Investigations are selected according to your history, symptoms, examination and clinical context. Not every patient requires every test.

Multi-cancer early detection may be discussed as an emerging option. A multi-cancer early detection test does not exclude cancer and does not replace conventional cancer screening.

  • Detailed personal and family history

  • Review of existing cancer screening

  • Age and risk-appropriate screening recommendations

  • Relevant blood testing

  • Imaging or specialist referral where appropriate

  • Genetic counselling or testing where appropriate

  • Discussion of multi-cancer early detection where appropriate

Established screening

  • Mammography
  • Cervical screening
  • Colorectal screening
  • Prostate assessment where appropriate
  • Skin assessment where appropriate
  • Age and risk-appropriate imaging

Emerging early detection

  • Multi-cancer early detection discussed where appropriate
  • Genetic assessment where indicated
  • Selected advanced blood-based markers
  • Additional imaging in selected patients

New technologies may complement established cancer screening in selected patients, but they do not automatically replace proven screening such as mammography, cervical screening or colorectal screening.

Investigation is only useful when it changes what we do. Once we understand the likely drivers of your symptoms or health concern, we build a focused treatment strategy around the findings.

The Process

What the plan may involve may involve

01.

Personalised screening schedule

02.

Established screening

03.

Risk-factor modification

04.

Appropriate imaging

05.

Genetic assessment where indicated

06.

Discussion of multi-cancer early detection where appropriate

07.

Specialist referral where required

08.

Follow-up planning

Focused care. One priority at a time.

Your consultation is centred on the reason you booked. If we identify another area that would benefit from deeper assessment, we may recommend a separate focused consultation rather than trying to address everything superficially in one appointment.

Ready to take the next step?

Book the consultation that best matches your main concern. We can build from there if anything else needs deeper assessment.
